'Committee to Protect Journalists' members detained in Tanzania, released

Two members of an American independent non-profit, non-governmental organization, Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) who were detained on Wednesday by Tanzania's Immigration Department have been released.
Angela Quintal (South African citizen) and Muthoki Mumo (Kenyan) were both arrested and had their passports seized, according to the Immigration Department spokesperson, for violating the terms of their visas after they held meetings with local journalists.
Ali Mtanda, said "they were supposed to get a separate permit for that"
South African foreign ministry in statement Thursday said, "They are safe and relieved that they are now with the High Commissioner of South Africa...Thami Mseleku."
Quintal, the CPJ's Africa program coordinator and Mumo, the group's sub-Saharan Africa representative were detained by immigration officers in their hotel room in Dar es Salaam according to the CPJ, and taken to an unknown location.
