Segun Agbaje GTBank CEO Is the New CEO of the Year in Africa

Mr. Segun Agbaje, the Managing Director/CEO of Guarantee Trust Bank plc has been awarded the CEO of the Year award and this award was presented at the 2015 Finance Monthly Global Awards that was held in London.  For the past seven years, the magazine has been giving out such awards to Chief Executive Officers, who had distinguished themselves in their particular sectors. It is an award well sought after by industries; the award is a mark of integrity.

The award is only given to CEOs after such had been investigated by research teams dedicated to the course of ensuring quality in industries across the world. The researchers are usually drawn from media professionals, employees, executives, analysis, investors and lots more from different industries worldwide. What are the criteria for winning the award? The emerging CEO must have top class management practices as well as identifiable success factors. He must have attained a leading position in practices in his chosen industry.

The event was organized by Finance Monthly magazine, a magazine with worldwide reach. They take their time to recognize and also honor outstanding companies as well as the leaders of such companies. They look into how much extraordinary foresight such leader has shown and the kind of leadership quality displayed. The level of performance of the CEO is gauged over the past 12 months and the effectiveness of management strategies is considered. The winning CEO must be engaging and resourceful to be considered for this top level award.  The company to be considered must be a successful company in all ramifications. The level of employee motivation and team spirit must be very high for any company to be considred for the award.

The Finance Monthly magazine’s Editor-In-Chief is Mark Palmer.  He stated that the listed CEOs in the 2015 CEO Awards as presented in the Finance Monthly magazine are all leaders that have delivered quality leadership and have visible achievements and success in their chosen industries. According to Mr. Mark Palmer, Mr. Segun Agbaje has distinguished himself as a successful African with forethoughts and innovations like none other.  He added that the inspiring leadership of the Agbaje had created an enduring organization with highly beneficial impact on the society and community.

Mr. Agbaje, in his acceptance speech said “we operate in challenging business environments, but we believe that our stakeholders should be better off for partnering with us thus, we set high goals and benchmark ourselves against global standards which influence our service culture and product offerings, thereby enabling us to remain relevant to our customers while adding value to all stakeholders.”

Furthermore, Mr. Agbaje believed the award indicates how much the company have earned customer’s loyalty and it also attest to the dedication and hard work of the members of board, management and staff of the bank. He used the opportunity to appreciate the hard work of the members of staff of the bank; “I am deeply honored to have won this award. I want to especially thank all the employees of GTBank, whom without their unrelenting hard work and dedication, the success we all enjoy today would not have been possible.”
