Buhari's 100 Days in Office Below Expectation-DPC

The Democratic People’s Congress (DPC) has expressed disappointment over what it described as President Muhammadu Buhari’s leadership fatigue and policy paralysis in his one hundred days in office. The party insisted that the administration  of Muhammadu Buhari had performed below expectations  contrary to belief in certain  quarters  that Buhari had performed  well within his first 100 days in office.

The party, in a statement issued by its National Chairman, Olusegun Peters, said Nigerians is yet to feel the much touted change Buhari promised during the presidential campaign, on the basis of which he was elected on. He said the poor performance of the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led federal government in the past 100 days is an eloquent testimony that the change mantra is not working.

“Buhari’s leadership fatigue and policy paralysis are causes of concern to right thinking Nigerians who expect dividends of democracy not rhetoric. It is time for action. It is time to kick start the government and pilot the ship of Nigeria state to the path of rectitude, progress, development and advancement,” he said.

DPC also frowned at the lopsided appointments so far made by President Buhari in which he allegedly marginalised a section of the country, saying: “That Nigerians expect him to be conversant with the constitution of Nigeria and comply with the Federal Character principle.

“We reiterate that President Buhari does not have eternity to fulfill his campaign promises to the long suffering Nigerians who in spite of all odds, voted him to office. His government unwarranted inertia is a betrayal of the confidence the populace reposed in him.

“We demand a stop to the on-going indecision and confusion in national governance. Leadership is a deep and heavy responsibility and must be carried out by serious minded compatriots who feel the pulse and pains of the citizenry.”

He said, “we score Buhari low in his 100 days in office. The lame excuse by his media aides that he did not promise any specific programme for the period is balderdash, ill-conceived and illogical.”

The party said: “A leader who cannot give direction to his government in the first 100 days will find it difficult to fulfill his campaign promises. We therefore urge President Buhari to sit up and take governance serious and see himself as the father of the nation. “It is unfortunate that the president failed this simple test in his 100 days in office. The nation will not tolerate a deliberate abuse of office, impunity and marginalisation.

“Accordingly, we condemn the invasion of Akwa Ibom State Government House, by Operatives of the Department of State Security (DSS). It is outrageous and unprecedented. Nigerians demand explanation, and what was carted out of the Government House to dispel rumor making round that arms and dollars were seized. The era of impunity is over and unacceptable in a democracy.

“We call on the National Assembly to wake up from slumber and face its legislative duties and check on executive recklessness. Partisan Politics must give way to patriotism.
