EPL: Premier League under fire after Arteta tests positive for coronavirus

The Premier League has come under fire for not acting promptly over the coronavirus outbreak. Matches are expected to be called off, when the Premier League convenes an emergency meeting on Friday morning.

This comes barely 24 hours, after it was confirmed that games scheduled for this weekend would go ahead. However, the news of Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta testing positive, has now triggered a change in plans. Former Manchester United captain and Sky Sports pundit, Gary Neville, has now criticized the league for waiting until now to act, despite other top European leagues such as LaLiga and Serie A being suspended. Neville tweeted: “It needed a PL manager to contract the virus for them to act! Embarrassing leadership from the Premier League. “Hey Premier League/EFL you are making a right mess of this one!”
