Just days after a man jumped into the Lagos Lagoon, another male has dived into the same popular water body from Third Mainland Bridge. The unknown man was said to have alighted from a vehicle belonging to one of the ride-hailing services on Wednesday, February 26, The Nation reports.

The man in question made the fatal move in the mid-night of Wednesday. Confirming the incident, the cab driver revealed to journalists that he drove the man from the Igando part of Lagos intending to pass through the Third Mainland Bridge on the passenger's request. The driver said that he started suspecting something strange from the man when he asked to confirm if they have arrived at the bridge just when they got there. Parking at a distance, the driver said he immediately reported to a group of nearby policemen that he feels the passenger in his car is about to take his own life by jumping into the lagoon. He said: “I told him I was no longer interested in the trip before I approached the police officers leaving him inside the car.” An eyewitness substantiated the driver's experience, saying: “As soon as the cab driver approached the police informing them of what his passenger was telling him, he got down from the Volkswagen Jetta car and jumped into the Lagoon but he landed on floating logs of wood."

Last night RRS officers on 3MB helped rescue this man who attempted suicide by diving into the lagoon. He alighted from a call cab saying he wanted to urinate but jumped off the Bridge.
