Isa Pantami speaks on Boko Haram leader's threat to his life

Nigeria's minister of communication and digital economy, Dr Isa Ibrahim Pantami, has reacted to the threat to his life by a factional leader of Boko Haram, Abubakar Shekau.

The terrorists' leader had in a recent video threatened President Muhammadu Buhari for visiting Maiduguri, Borno state, following the Boko Haram attack that claimed many lives. Shekau also threatened the communication minister over the measures he is taking on sim card registrations in a bid to tighten up security. However, when asked about his reaction by journalists on Monday, February 17, Pantami declined to make any comment. The Nation reports that Pantami simply said “No comments for now" when newsmen asked for his reaction. The communication minister spoke to journalists at the Government Secondary School, Garki, Abuja where he delivered a lecture on digital mentoring. In her own reaction, Lauretta Onochi, a presidential aide on social media, described the threat by the Boko Haram leader as expressing frustration. Onochie said the sim card registration and restriction policy is affecting the insurgents.
