My life was threatened over TSA policy - Former Gombe governor, Dankwambo

Every key government reform comes with sacrifices, especially if it has to do with blocking the means through which corrupt public officials perpetrate their evil acts. Such was the experience of the former governor of Gombe state, Ibrahim Dankwambo, for the lead role he played in bringing about the Treasury Single Account (TSA), a unified account system designed to block financial fraud, The Nation reports.

Dankwambo recently at a book launch narrated how his role in the TSA reform put his life under threat. For people like me, we had to be given extra security, like they had to change our houses. We had to be accompanied by police because of the threats over the implementation of financial reforms,” the former governor who had also served as the accountant general of the federation recalled. He urged the federal government to come up with more policies to empower and strengthen the country's finance and treasury. He added that various government reforms should also be strengthened with legal backing so as to protect them from being abandoned by politicians.
