Gun Men Attack Emir Of Potiskum Alhaji Umaru Bubaram

Three persons were killed on Wednesday, 15 January, when gunmen attacked the first-class emir of Potiskum, Alhaji Umaru Bubaram, while he was on a tour of traditional institutions across the north.

According to reports, The three people killed during the attack were the aides of the traditional ruler. The attack was said to have occurred around Fandatio village, not far from Maraban Jos when the emir was touring traditional institutions as part of preparations for the official commissioning of Potiskum central mosque. The attack was confirmed by a traditional title holder in the emir’s entourage, Sarkin Yamma Potiskum, Alhaji Gidado Ibrahim ‎who said the emir was rushed to the hospital. The incident was also confirmed by the Kaduna police spokesman, Yakubu Sabo. In another news report, the Katsina state government has given bandits in the state 48-hour ultimatum to unconditionally release all kidnapped persons in their custody or face the full wrath of the law. Channels TV reports that the ultimatum was disclosed by Alhaji Mustapha Inuwa, the secretary to the state government when briefing journalists about a security meeting held with relevant stakeholders. Inuwa urged the bandits to adhere to the ultimatum, noting that the government will not have any other meeting with bandits to advocate for peaceful co-existence between them and the larger society.
