Top super falcons star completes big move to spanish side

Spanish Primera Iberdrola side Madrid CFF have completed the signing of Super Falcons star Rita Chikwelu on a six-month deal. The 31-year-old midfielder joins her compatriot Chidinma Okeke at the Spanish Women's League's side on a short term basis. Before her recent move to Spain, Chikwelu spent about ten years in Sweden - scoring 60 goals across two clubs Umea IK and Kristianstad. While reacting to the new challenge, she told BBC Sport: "This is a different and competitive league, as a footballer you want to test yourself around the best players. The Spanish league is an interesting place for African players and I believe this will continue to help develop our players' game and their profile." Chikwelu inspired the Super Falcons to win the 2016 and 2018 Africa Women's Cup of Nations while also helping them reach the knockout stage at the 2019 FIFA World Cup in France. Asisat Oshoala is the biggest Nigerian name in Spain following her move to join Barcelona Femeni last year. She has since then justified the reason they signed her following her performances so far for the Catalan Ladies. Below are a few other Nigerian stars who are plying their trade in Spain with the numbers set to increase depending on demands from the European country. Barcelona - Asisat Oshoala (Nigeria), CD Tacon - Osinachi Ohale (Nigeria), Madrid CFF - Rita Chikwelu and Chidinma Okeke (Both Nigeria)
