Why i want to become president in 2023, former APC governor declares

Senator Ahmad Sani Yerima on Sunday, January 12, disclosed his intention to contest for the president of Nigeria in the 2023 general elections on the grounds that he is the most qualified person for the job.

Yerima who is a former governor of Zamfara state, made the disclosure when speaking to the press after he paid a condolence visit to the families of renown Islamic Scholar, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi over the death of his wife and the families of late prime minister, Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa over the death of his last surviving wife, The Tribune reports. The senator said some political groups from different parts of the country have approached him to contest for the number one seat in the country in 2023. Yerima stated that his track records both in public service and political office make him best fit the role. He said the Islamic legal system he introduced while in the office is still addressing social vices in spite of the controversy trailing the introduction of the system. He noted that his next political aspiration is to become a president or vice president after serving as a governor for eight years and senator for another eight years. The lawmaker said if elected as president, he will address the basic problems affecting the socio-economic development of the country by fighting poverty and creating more jobs opportunities and infrastructures.
