INEC begins verification of 92 registered political parties in Abuja

In efforts to to monitor activities of political parties in the country, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has started verification of the presence of the 92 registered parties in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
        According to Telegraph, INEC has set up eight teams of its Election and Party Monitoring (EPM) department to verify the 92 registered political parties. Musa Husunu, deputy director in the EPM department said there are some criteria which INEC expects from every registered political party.

1. Evidence of headquarters in the FCT.
2. Second is the five copies of the constitution of the party.
3. List of NWC members, then membership register, then, book of account.
4. Physical presence of offices for NWC members
5. Registered political party is also expected to have offices in two-third of the 36 states of the country.
        Meanwhile during the verification exercise at the PDP national secretariat in Abuja, the PDP national chairman Uche Secondus used the opportunity to show his displeasure about the conduct of elections in the country in recent times, The national chairman also hinted that with the current problems facing the electoral process of the country such as violence and other electoral malpractices he could not guarantee if the PDP would be taking part in future elections.
