Minimum wage : Civil servants give Govt till december 2019 as implementation deadline

The federal government has been urged to ensure the commencement of N30,000 minimum wage implementation before the end of December 2019.
The Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN) also asked the state and local governments in the country to follow its demand for the commencement of the implementation before the deadline. Daily Trust reports that Comrade Uloko Sule, chairman of the Gombe state chapter of the labour association, made the demand on Thursday, November 6, at a workshop. According to him, it has become very urgent for workers to ensure the implementation of the minimum wage, adding: "Workers who have waited for so long can have a new lease of life.” Sule said the subject of the workshop was carefully selected to help bring about a corrupt-free service to the people of the country. He said at the end of the workshop, strategies would be developed to help the civil service. The workshop was declared open by Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe, represented by the permanent secretary, general services, Alhaji Usman Shamaki. The governor urged the anti-graft agencies in the country to enlighten the people on how to change their attitudes to make the country better.
