Marcus Rashford's double give Man united edge over Chelsea

Marcus Rashford's sensational brace was all Man United needed to send Chelsea out of the Carabao Cup in the fourth round of the tournament played at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night, October 30.
Chelsea, who had a shaky start to the season came into the match in fine form, winning seven games on the bounce in all competitions. United on the other hand have had a mixed run of results, with injuries rocking the side since their 4-0 win over the Blues in their season opener. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer named a strong side for this particular clash, making four changes to the team that beat Norwich on Sunday. Sergio Romero, Brandon Williams, Marcos Rojo and Jesse Lingard were all drawn in as David de Gea, Ashley Young, Andreas Pereira and Anthony Martial dropped out. Daniel James, who has been impressive for United was central to the visitor's opening goal as he drove into the area to win a penalty that Marcus Rashford stepped up to convert in the 25th minute. Callum Hudson-Odoi nearly drew Chelsea level at the restart of the second half, but could not get a good connection as his shot went narrowly wide. The home side would lodge a penalty appeal soon moments later, with fans believing Marcos Rojo had handled the ball in the dangerous area. However, match officials brushed off the protests, with Michy Batshuayi restoring parity in the 61st minute with a superb solo effort. Aware of Chelsea's threat, Solskjaer was forced into a double substitution introducing Anthony Martial and Andreas Pereira in place of Lingard and Lindelof. The change paid off as the pair made an instant impact as United won a foul 35 yards out after Fred was brought down. Rashford once again stepped up to take the shot, with the England striker rifling in a net-buster that flew into the top corner to make it 2-1. The Old Trafford side eventually managed to hold on to claim a vital win that earned them a place in the last eight of the competition. Before the game football pundits had actually tiped chelsea to victory due to the fine form they have enjoyed in past weeks, compared to Man united's form which has being shaky due to lots of injuries suffered by team members.
