Top European club sought after the services of Jose Mourinho

Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund are reportedly trying to convince Jose Mourinho to take over from Lucien Favre as their new manager, and the club have been in 'regular contact' with him, according to reports in Germany.
The former Chelsea boss is eager to return to club management and Dortmund could be an attractive option for the Special One, with consistent appearance in the Champions League and star players that includes the likes of Jadon Sancho, Marco Reus and Paco Alcacer. The 56-year-old has not coached since he was sent parking by Manchester United last year, but he is already learning German language, according to Bild. At the moment, Mourinho works mostly as an analyst on Sky Sports, but remains keen on returning to the dugout. And a chance to challenge Bayern Munich's dominance of Bundesliga could appeal to Mourinho. The Bild report claims Mourinho remains Dortmund's preferred choice to replace Lucien Favre, who has been inconsistent with his team since the start to the season, but were tipped by some fans to beat Bayern to the Bundesliga silverware. Mourinho and Dortmund chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke has been talking regularly, but Bild also claim the ex-RB Leipzig manager Ralf Rangnick is also under consideration for the job. Mourinho is expected to accept a significant drop in the £24m yearly salary he earned while at Man United. However, Favre's future is not a worry for Dortmund, but they are plotting on how to challenge Bayern over the years. Dortmund are placed fourth in the Bundesliga after eight matches-winning four, drawing three and losing just once in the league so far.
