Boko Haram terrorists, soldiers, local hunter reportedly killed in Borno ambush

At least two soldiers and a local hunter identified as Mallam Monye were killed when some suspected members of Boko Haram sect laid ambush on military operation vehicles along Maiduguri- Beneshiekh- Damaturu road.
The troubled road remains the only motorable route that linked Maiduguri, the state capital, with the rest of the country, which has remained a death trap, especially from Beneshiekh enroute Mainok, Jakana and Auno communities before reaching Maiduguri. Sources who asked not to be named for security reasons said the latest ambush took place on Saturday evening, October 19, but remains of victims were conveyed to Maiduguri on Sunday morning, October 20. According to Legit.ng's regional reporter in Borno, the insurgents also suffered heavy casualties as many of them were neutralised during the encounter. A local hunter who did not want his name mentioned said one of his colleagues, a hunter, died during the ambush. He said: "Yesterday Boko Haram ambushed our Gallant Nigerian Army and Borno local hunters (Vigilantes) along Maiduguri- Beneshiekh federal highway. "We lost one of our active members named Monye due to lack of protector, such as life jackets and other safety equipment to vigilantes". All effort to confirm the incident from the director of army public relations, Colonel Sagir Musa proved, abortive as at press time.
