Alleged adult shop assault: More trouble for Abbo as police tenders fresh evidence against embattled senator

Another CCTV footage has been tendered against Senator Elisha Abbo (PDP-Adamawa North) by the Nigerian Police Force (NPF). The lawmaker was arraigned at a Zuba magistrate court on a one-count charge for allegedly assaulting a woman at an Abuja sex toy shop.
According to reports, It was gathered that the court was informed by the prosecution counsel, James Odachaba, at the resumed hearing on Thursday, October 17, that another CCTV footage had been retrieved and they intend to tender it as additional proof of evidence. Idachaba also informed the court that the second prosecution witness was in the premises to testify. The testimony was, however, not heard as Abbo’s counsel, Adegbite Adeniyi, applied for an adjournment. Adeniyi said he would need time to study the additional proof of evidence as they had just been served with it. He said: “The law gives us the right to be given time to go through such proof of evidence before the case can continue.” The application for adjournment was not opposed by the prosecution counsel and the case was subsequently adjourned till November 19 for continuation by the magistrate, Abdullahi Ilellah. Months back clips of the senator assaulting a lady at a toy shop somewhere in Abuja was all over the internet, the clip generated widespread criticisms with a majority of the public calling for the senator's arrest and persecution.
