Brazil authorities drop assault case on PSG star for lack of evidence

Brazil police authorities are said to have closed the sexual assault case on Paris Saint Germain superstar Neymar owing to lack of tangible evidence.
         The current most expensive footballer was alleged to have 'forced himself on a Brazilian model Najila Trindade when she visited the player in Paris towards the end of last season. However, the former Barcelona attacker was quick to deny the accusations - saying he was being extorted and also released video footage and whatsapp conversations between them on social media. While dropping the clips of the incident on the internet, the forward revealed he wanted to "prove that nothing really happened". And on the other hand, Ms Trindade granted a television interview, during which she also released a footage showing both had an altercation inn the process. The police later accused the model of defaming the football star and filed a case against her, but she bounced back to insinuate that the force was corrupt according to news agency AFP. She was said to have dropped by a lot of lawyers who were not ready to defend her case. BBC however report that the Sao Paulo attorney general's office confirmed the case has been suspended, but will allow prosecutors make final decision on the matter. And the prosecutors will have to evaluate the case for about 15 days before a judge makes a final ruling. Meanwhile, Neymar's spokesperson was said to have informed AFP that he could not make any comment on the decision of the police.
