Ministerial list: APC in Enugu rejects Geoffrey Onyeama, asks Buhari to drop nominee

The All Progressives Congress (APC), Enugu chapter, has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to drop the name of Geoffrey Onyeama, his former foreign affairs minister, from the cabinet list he sent to the Senate for confirmation. The APC in the state said its members were not happy over the nomination of Onyeama calling it a terrible mistake.
The chairman of the APC in Enugu, Ben Nwoye, said Onyeama “ought not to have any business in the next level second-term agenda of the APC-led federal executive council.” According to Nwoye, the nomination of Onyeama is not in the interest of Enugu state and Nigeria as the proposed minister allegedly did harm to the party in the state sponsoring crises. To the chairman, reappointing Onyeama into the federal executive council would further destroy the party in the state. “This is a man who has a penchant for thuggery and pulling down of party structure, he said. Nwoye asked the Senate to investigate the allegation of tax evasion by Onyeama adding that the former minister lied on oath during his screening by the eighth National Assembly. The nation has anxiously been waiting for the ministerial list since president Muhammadu Buhari was sworn into office for his second tenure on may 29th 2019, now that the list has finally being released a lot of nigerians are reacting to it in their own way, with some nigerians commending the president for his choice of ministers while some others have faulted the list.
