Ministerial screening: Senate asks 3 nominees to ‘bow and go’

The Nigerian Senate on Wednesday, July 24, began the screening of ministerial nominees asking three of them to simply ‘take a bow and go’ since they were former lawmakers. Those asked to ‘take a bow and go’ included Godswill Akpabio, a former minority leader of the senate and ex-governor of Akwa Ibom. Senator George Akume, who has served in the upper legislative chamber, and was governor of Benue state, also benefited from the gesture. The Senate also asked Emeka Nwajuiba, a serving member of the House of Representatives, who sought to be speaker of the ninth Assembly, was also asked to bow and go after an introduction and a little address.
