Jigawa Centenarian speaks on controversies over Atiku’s nationality

A Centenarian from Dutse Emirate Council in Jigawa State, Isyaku Adamu has reacted to the controversy surrounding the nationality of Atiku Abubakar, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate. Adamu disclosed that the Waziri Abubakar’s mother was from Jigawa State.
Addressing reporters on Tuesday in his community, the official of the Dutse Emirate said Abubakar’s mother, Aisha, popularly called ‘Kande Yar-Malam’, who is from Jigawa State married Abubakar’s father after her first marriage crashed. The chief disclosed that the father of the former Vice President, Garba was a student coming from Sokoto to Dutse in search of Islamic knowledge when he met and later married Kande. According to the Centenarian: “He settled at our house, popularly called ‘Gidan Malamai’ (Scholars’ House). There, he met and married Kande and took her to present day Adamawa State where Mr Abubakar was born. Mr Abubakar’s mother, Kande, was junior to Alhaji Ali and Azumi; they are all late now. Kande was our daughter and Mr Abubakar is our grandson. We are all Fulani by tribe; our forefathers are scholars here in Dutse, that’s why our home is called Gidan Malamai. This is coming at a time the PDP presidential candidate responded to claim by the All Progressives Congress, APC, that he was not a Nigerian. Abubakar had insisted that he was born and raised a Nigerian, hence has the conditional right to contest for the presidency.
