Improve agriculture sector to address unemployment - Emir of Kano tells FG

The federal and state governments have been advised by the Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, to improve the agriculture sector to address unemployment in the country.
The monarch stated this in Bauchi at a pre-Ramadan lecture organized by the Bauchi chapter of the Association of Muslim Professionals on Sunday, April 14.  It was gathered that Sanusi, who was represented by the Sarkin Shanun Kano, Hassan Mohammed, noted that before the discovery of oil, Nigeria’s economy had been driven by agriculture. The governor of Bauchi state, Muhammad Abubukar, who was represented by the commissioner for religious affairs and community relations, Ado Sarkin Aska, urged the association to partner with the state government in order to propagate its activities effectively.  The Emir of Kano called for policies that would tackle the current socio-economic challenges and ensure a better future for the country. The monarch made the call in a keynote address he presented at a roundtable discussion organised by the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) which held in Kano on Thursday, April 11. He said there was need for the government to focus on programmes and policies that would ensure better economic growth and development in the country.
