Police prevents suicide bomb attack in Maiduguri

A planned bombing by a lone suicide bomber was foiled by men of the NIgeria Police Force on Wednesday night in Maiduguri.

The State's Police commissioner, Mr. Damian Chukwu told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in telephone interview that incident which occurred at about 8.30pm on the outskirts of Maiduguri involved a female teenage bomber.

Mr.
Chukwu said the teenager was trying to infiltrate a security check point, but was shot at by security men fired causing the Improvised Explosive Device (IEDs) vest strapped to her body to explode.

He added that no casualty was recorded except the suicide bomber who was blown to pieces by the explosion.

The commissioner also that a team of the Explosive Ordinance Department (EOD) have been deployed to sanitise the area.
