Spain to increase minimum wage by 22 per cent in 2019 - Prime Minister

Spain is set to approve increasing the country's monthly minimum wage in 2019 by 22%, Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez parliament on Wednesday.

He said raising the minimum wage to 1,050 euros($1,192) is "the biggest since 1977," adding that it will be submitted to a cabinet meeting in Barcelona on December 21.

The measure was part of his minority Socialist government's draft 2019 budget which he is struggling to pass in parliament so it will now be approved by decree.
