Bomb blast rips through mosque in Afghanistan, 26 people dead

No fewer than 26 people were killed on Friday, when a bomb explosion rip through a mosque inside an Afghan army base in Mandozai district, where soldiers had gathered for prayers, in Afghanistan's eastern Khost province.

Security officials say 50 people were wounded by the blast.

A spokesperson for the Military, Capt. Abdullah, said all victims of the attack were members of the 2nd Regiment of the Afghan National Army.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far, in a country where the Taliban is heavily active.

The attack comes just three days after 55 religious scholars were killed by a suicide attack while they were marking the birthday of the Prophet Mohammad. 90 people were injured in the blast in a banquet hall.
