Police refutes claims of an assassination attempt on Ekweremadu

Spokeperson of the Nigeria Police Force, Jimoh Moshood, has refuted claims of an attempted assassination on Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, at his apo residence in Abuja on Tuesday.
Moshood explained that the incidence was a burglary contrary to the claims contained in statement by Uche Anichukwu -an aide to the senator-, adding that the sole suspect caught and handed over to the police is cooperating with investigation.
"Investigation so far carried out in the incident does not have any link to assassination attempt," he said.
"The suspect has been assisting the police in the investigation into the matter. We have intensified efforts to arrest other suspects who escaped from the crime scene"
He also added that Sen. Ekweremadu have submitted his statements about the incident to the police.
