Five killed in fresh Adamawa attack

Fresh attacks have been carried out on the indigenes of Bali village in Demsa Local Government Area of Adamawa by suspected ethnic militia which has resulted in five deaths.

A spokesperson for the Adamawa Police Command, Othman Abubakar, confirmed the incident, saying travellers along Numan-Kpasham road to Taraba State were ambushed by the militia.

While he added that four of the victims survived the attack, Abubakar called for for calm as an investigation into the incident is ongoing.

He reiterated the police's commitment to arresting the suspects and pleaded against any form of reprisal attacks.

Channels Television reports that a local farmer who pleaded anonymity told of some angry youths stopping travellers and killing five in the process.

Following a series of attacks in the area, travellers have abandoned the Numan-Kpasham-Jalingo road for a long time now due to such attacks.
