Girl, 15, beaten and hanged by ‘gang of teens who tried to rape her'

A 15-year-old girl was beaten and hanged from a tree after she ‘fought off a gang of teens who tried to rape her' in India.
Local police have arrested three boys after Suvita Yadav's body was found hanged by the scarf of her school uniform in a village in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday.
The schoolgirl was allegedly attacked by the boys, including one who went to her school, as she headed home from in the Mainpuri district after Gandhi Jayanti celebrations.
Suvita's brother reportedly heard her screams and alarmed locals who rushed to the scene.
Police Additional Superintendent Om Prakash Singh said: ‘Rambir Yadav's daughter was returning from school around 11am when three boys from a neighbouring village beat her and hanged her from a tree. ‘When the villagers reached the spot they found the three men and held them until police came to arrest them.
‘The girl's body was sent for a postmortem. The reports confirm that she wasn't raped. ‘During the investigation we have found that one of the boys were studying at her school and the two knew each other.'
