Couple gets 100 years jail term for sexually abusing child

A married couple have been jailed for a combined total of 100 years for sexually abusing a child.

Eric Bourg, 28, and Megan Bourg, 25, will not be eligible for early release or parole after they pleaded guilty to a sex crime against a girl under the age of 13.

The judge sentencing them at a court in Louisiana, US, said the decision to ban early release was due to the ‘disturbing nature' of the abuse.

District Attorney Joel Chaisson said the sentence handed to the couple was part of a plea agreement.

Both defendants had pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated crime against nature perpetrated upon a victim under age 13, he said in a statement.

Judge Timothy Marcel sentenced Eric Bourg to 60 years in state prison without benefit of parole, probation or suspension of sentence.

Megan Bourg was sentenced to 40 years in prison with the same restrictions.

The pleas also require the two to carry a lifetime sex offender registration.

The couple were first arrested by police on October 4, 2017.

The case was so horrific, the DA decided not to provide further details saying it was important to ensure the protection of the victim.

An indictment indicated the two defendants were accused of sexual abuse of a juvenile between January 1, 2014 and October 23, 2017.

Mr Chaisson said: ‘These pleas ensure that both defendants will spend a significant amount of time in jail where they will be unable to victimise another child and eliminate any possibility of the victim having to testify.'
