India student dies after being pushed from roof in safety drill

A 19-year-old college student has been reported dead from injuries sustained following a safety exercise.
Indian police said the college student, N Logeshwari died after she had been forced to jump off a building, by the training instructor, into a safety net held by fellow students.
The instructor is said to have pushed her after as she was reluctant to jump.
She was declared dead on arrival despite being rushed to a hospital after her fall by the college authorities.
The police have arrested the training instructor and have also opened a case against the college.
"The college didn't apply for permission for any such training. This is against the law. Any school or college has to get prior permission from the government before conducting an exercise like this. Police are investigating the issue and the trainer has been arrested," senior government official Hariharan told BBC Tamil.
The incident, which was caught on video, shows the student losing her balance and hitting her head after she was pushed by the instructor.
The video has been widely circulated on social media.
