Spain's Gerard Pique leaves training session early after knee injury scare

Gerard Pique was unable to complete Spain's training session in Russia on Monday after feeling discomfort in his left knee, but teammate Rodrigo Moreno has told fans not to worry.

Marca posted video footage of the moment that the Barcelona defender left the training pitch, but Rodrigo told a news conference: "Pique is fine. In principle, there is no problem whatsoever."

After speaking to medical staff, the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) said Pique, who had a minor left knee injury in February, had not suffered "any problem."

A 2010 World Cup winner and Euro 2012 champion, the 31-year-old has made 98 senior appearances and announced that he will retire from international football after the World Cup.

Spain take on European champions Portugal in their World Cup opener in Sochi on June 15.
