Spider stuck inside teenager's ear removed by ear wax doctor

A clip posted by popular Youtube channel, run by ear specialist Nick Chitty, has shown what can safely be assumed as a nightmare scenario to millions of people around the world.
The video, which has been wildly shared, shows the moment the Devon-based specialist removed a spider which had been stuck inside the ear canal of a boy, during a recent camping trip in Devon.
The spider is believed to have crawled inside the boy's ear while he slept during the his trip. In a super HD footage, the spider's hairy legs are seen tangled inside the patient's ear.
Nick, whose channel contains lot of footage chronicling the many weird and wonderful things he is tasked with removing from patients' aural cavities, naturally filmed the removal.
‘Things were going quite well,' Nick says, ‘in my clinic my patients get to see this shot on a 50 inch flat screen TV.
‘He wasn't too concerned until his younger brother suggested that this was really cool and "what if the spider had laid eggs in his ear?"
‘And then my patient became a little bit agitated.'
Nick, though, says the spider would likely had not survived for long inside the boy's ear.
The specialist eventually removed the eight-legged creature using a method called micro suction, which involves using a microscope and suction device. usually employed when removing large amounts of ear wax that have built up in a person's ear proved just as effective at spider removal.
He said: ‘This has to be most people's worst nightmare but it is very rare.
‘The teenager came in with his family – he felt there was something in his ear. The spider was dead, and I suspect this had happened when his mum had a look around with a cotton bud.
‘She might have accidentally killed the spider and pushed it further down the ear canal. This is pretty uncommon.
‘As you go in the ear canal, most people‘s canal will go up 30 degrees and then there is hair to stop dust from getting in.
‘After that there is the wax gland – this is sticky to stop anything from going in your ear.'
