Tennis: Caroline Wozniacki eases past Ekaterina Alexandrova at the Paribas Istanbul Cup

World No.2 Caroline Wozniacki advanced to the round-of-16 stage of the Paribas Istanbul Cup after a straight-forward 6-2, 6-2 win over Ekaterina Alexandrova.

Wozniacki, who claim this year's Australian Open, is set to meet eitherSara Errani or Kirsten Flipkens in the next round.

Joining the Dane in the next round of the competition is Maria Sakkari, who beatCagla Buyukakcay 7-5, 6-2, and Donna Vekic who triumphed over Agnieszka Radwanska after she retired after falling behind 6-1, 2-0.

In centre court's two other games on Tuesday, Turkey's Ayla Aksu lost to Winner France Pauline Parmentier 2-6, 2-6 while Irina-Camelia Begu beat Dalila Jakupovic 7-5, 6-0.

On court one, Yulia Putintseva claimed a comeback victory over Sorana Cirstea 0-6, 6-1, 6-0 and Arantxa Rus beat Shuai Zhang 6-2, 6-3.

In the final game on court one, Polona Hercog emerged with the win over Belarus's Aryna Sabalenka 6-2, 7-5.

Viktoriya Tomova beat Valentyna Ivakhnenko and Danka Kovinic beat Anna Kalinskay on court two.
