Liverpool to face Roma in Champions League semi; Bayern Munich vs. Real Madrid

Liverpool will face Roma in the semifinals of the Champions League later this month as they continue their attempt to win it for the first time since 2005.
The runners-up in 2007, Liverpool reached the semifinals for the first time in 10 years with a 5-1 aggregate victory over runaway Premier League leaders Manchester City -- including a 3-0 win at home in the first leg.
Roma, in the semifinals of Europe's top club competition for the first time since 1984, when they lost to Liverpool in the final on penalties. They moved on by knocking out Barcelona, who held a 4-1 advantage after the first leg before Roma won 3-0 at home to advance on away goals.
The tie will be a meeting of Liverpool's Mohamed Salah against his former club, as Roma sold the forward, who has scored 38 goals in all competitions, for €42 million in June.
Bayern Munich will face Real Madrid in the other semifinal.
Bayern, back in the semifinals for the seventh time in nine seasons, are attempting to reach the final for the first time since they won the Champions League in 2013. They advanced with a 2-1 aggregate victory over Sevilla in the quarterfinals.
Madrid, the two-time defending Champions League winners, advanced to the semifinals on 4-3 aggregate after Cristiano Ronaldo scored an added-time penalty against Juventus in the 97th minute on Wednesday.
They are attempting to be the first club to win the competition in three consecutive seasons since Bayern won it a third time in 1976.
The first leg will be played April 24-25 with the return leg taking place on May 1-2.
