Assault allegation at Commonwealth Games

Australian police are investigating allegations of assault on an international delegate at the Commonwealth Games. The allegations has been described as a  a complaint of indecent assault by the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF).

CGF chief executive David Grevemberg said "bad or abusive behaviour of any nature" would not be tolerate over the course of the event. He told reporters on Wednesday that "[the allegation] is of grave concern because it compromises the integrity of everything we look to uphold in terms of harm-free environments."

"There is just no place for that at the Commonwealth Games."

The alleged victim, according to Australian news outlet, is said to be an athlete participating in the games -which will officially begin on Wednesday- while the accused official was from Mauritius.

More than 4,500 athletes from 71 nations and territories will compete in the games, which will take place over 12 days.
