Street vendor's death sparks violent clashes amongst migrants and police in Madrid

The death of a Senegalese street vendor has led to clashes between migrants and Spanish police. The Senegalese Mame Mbaye Ndiaye is said to be in his mid-30s. Ndiaye, who they say had been chased by officers was later found unconscious and died of a heart attack.
Protesters said Mr Ndiaye arrived in Spain by boat 12 years ago and reportedly worked illegally as a vendor to send money back to his family.
"Municipal police arrived and chased him from Sol to Lavapiés with a motorbike," said Modou, a 25-year-old vendor from Senegal.
"In the end, he died here," he told the AFP news agency.
A motorbike and dustbins were set ablaze by the protesters, who also threw stones at police officers in the Lavapiés district, injuring ten police officers. Around 19 people were also injured in the clash which lasted from 21:00 until 01:30 local time (20:00-00:30 GMT), spreading from street to street.
Bus stops and some bank branches were damaged, and dustbins set on fire. Police arrested six people during the protest, a spokesperson for Madrid Police told Spanish news agency Efe.
The Mayor for the city of Madrid, an investigation into what truly happened will be extensively done and the city will respond appropriately from the findings
