UEFA Champions League: Magic Messi helps Barcelona outclass Chelsea, Bayern Munich advances

Bayern Munich made light work of their second leg tie with Besiktas in Istanbul with a 3-1 win, bringing the overall aggregate score to 8-1 following a 5-0 win during the first leg in Germany couple weeks ago.

Bayern Munich are now through to the quarterfinals of the Champions League as there was no chance that Besiktas would overturn the 5 goal deficit from the first leg. An early goal from Thiago Alcantara ensured the hosts' hopes were completely annihilated.
An own goal and subtitle Sandro Wagner completed the routine win despite Vagner's love consolation goal for the Turkish side. The win extended coach Jupp Heynckes' record to just one defeat in 28 matches and took Bayern's tally in this season's competition to 21.

Elsewhere in Spain, Lionel Messi's two goals - one being the fastest of his career and the other his 100th in the Champions League - saw Barcelona overcome Chelsea 3-0 at the Camp Nou and advance to the quarterfinals 4-1 on aggregate.
Chelsea had created sustained spells of pressure but were unable to find the sort of cutting edge displayed by Messi and Ousmane Dembele, who scored Barcelona's third and his first for the Spanish club.

The clubs that qualified for the round of 8 are Juventus, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester City, Liverpool, Sevilla, Roma and Bayern Munich. The draw for the quarterfinals will take place at Uefa's headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland on Friday, March 16 and is set to get underway at 11am GMT.
