UEFA Champions League: Manchester United & Jose Mourinho dumped, Sevilla and Roma progresses

Vincenzo Montella's Sevilla advanced into the Champions League quarterfinals at the expense of Manchester United, overcoming them by 2 goals to 1 in their second leg game played at Old Trafford on Tuesday night.

Having left Paul Pogba on the bench, Jose Mourinho's team, looked lively at the start of the game with Lukaku skying a shot over the bar after some nice interplay with Jesse Lingard and then having another attempt from close range blocked by the Sevilla defence.

But second half substitute Wissam Ben Yedder's quick double was all that was need for the Spanish team to qualify, as Romelu Lukaku goal in the closing minutes was not enough with the score ending 2-1 on aggregate.

Meanwhile, a second-half strike from Edin Dzeko made sure Roma got into the quarterfinals of the Champions League over Shakhtar Donetsk. The one-nil victory over 10-man Shakhtar Donetsk marks the first time since 2008, the Italian side have gone beyond the round of 16.

The Bosnia international beat an offside trap after a through ball Kevin Strootman set him up inside the penalty area on the left and calmly placing the ball in the net through the goalkeeper's legs from 16 yards.

Shakhtar had greater possession throughout the first half but had a player sent off in the 79th minute when Ivan Ordets was shown a straight red card for taking down Dzeko from behind just outside the penalty area.

It incident led to several skirmishes among players on both sides, and eventually a ballboy was pushed over the advertising hoarding by a Shakhtar player but eventually Roma goalkeeper Alisson, yet to concede at the Stade Olimpico in the Champions League this season, recorded another clean sheet.
