Russia's Olympic Ban lifted By The IOC

Russia's Olympic membership has been fully restored by the International Olympic Committee, following its suspension from Pyeongchang 2018.

Head of the country's Olympic Committee (ROC), Alexander Zhukov who made the announcement on Wednesday said "The rights of the Russian Olympic Committee have been fully restored"

Russia had been banned by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) over state-sponsored doping and couldn't participate in the winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang. 168 Russians who were allowed to competed at the Winter Olympics, did so under the neutral flag 'Olympic athlete from Russia' (OAR) team  but two of the athletes failed drugs tests.

The OAR team which won 17 medals, was the third largest at the Games.

The IOC, before the closing ceremony in South Korea, had said the ban would be lifted, so long as there were no more anti-doping violations.
