White House: Trump in Support of Plans to Improve Gun Background Checks

According to the White House statement, US President Donald Trump had on Friday spoken to Republican Senator, John Cornyn about gun legislation, days after the shooting which took place at a Florida school. It added that President Trump is in support of putting efforts into improving the federal background check system.

White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders who read out the statement said, Trump spoke to Cornyn about the bi-partisan bill, he and Democratic Senator Chris Murphy had brought before the senate, which improves federal compliance with criminal background checks.

"While discussions are ongoing and revisions are being considered, the President is supportive of efforts to improve the Federal background check system," Sanders said.
