Former Football Coach Found Guily of Seven More Sex Abuses

Former football coach ho worked with the Crewe Alexandra and Manchester City youth teams in the 1980s has been found guilty of seven further sex offences against boys.

On Tuesday, 64-year-old Barry Bennell, was convicted of 36 charges of indecent and serious sexual assault. The jury at Liverpool Crown Court has found him guilty of additional seven charges making it the fourth time he has been found guilty of abusing boys.

The jury was told he had previously received three jail sentences in the UK and in the US. They also heard about his power hold over players aged between eight and fifteen. They were to he had abused them on an industrial scale.

Bennell, now known as Richard Jones, attended court sessions via video link during the five-week trial due to illness.

He had earlier admitted seven charges of indecent assault on three boys, two of whom were also part of the allegations he was tried on.
