Pakistani Taliban Deputy Leader Killed in Drone Strike

The deputy leader of the Pakistani Taliban has been killed in a suspected U.S. drone strike and a new deputy has been appointed said the Tehrik-e-Taliban paksitan.

A spokesman for the militant group, who's aim is to bring down the Pakistan government said the drone strike happened in the North Waziristan region, on the Pakistani side of the border. 

"We confirm that deputy head of the TTP Khalid Mehsud died in a drone strike," said the spokesman, Mohammad Khurasani. He added that a commander called Mufti Noor Wali Wali was appointed by the Taliban chief to succeed Sanja.

Pakistani security officials on Thursday last week reported that the deputy leader, Khalid Mehsud,also know as Sanja, was killed in a suspected U.S. missile strike but conflicting accounts of the strike were obtained from militant sources and Pakistani intelligence officials.Militant sources refers to Wali as a cruel leader, experienced in Pakistani urban areas including the southern city of Karachi.

He is expected to operate in South Waziristan, on the Afghan border, home to Pakistani,afghan and Al-Qaeda-linked terrorists group.
