Syria: Turkish forces attacked, one killed

Attacks on Turkish military forces in the northwest of Syria has left one soldier killed and five others injured on Monday. Turkey's armed forces in a statementon tuesday said the Turkish forces were setting up a military post when the rocket and mortar attack by some militants occurred.

The statemewnt, which does not say which militant group orchestrated the attack, said the Turkish forces countered the attack , leaving one civillian member of the Turkish mission injured.

On monday, southwest of the city of Aleppo, the army started setting up the outpost in the region they have established control over, since the agreement bteween Russia and Iran to restore peace and reduce violence in the region. 

Just a week ago, an attack was carried out on Turkish military convoy that was heading for the same region, which is one of the last strongholds of rebels who oppose Syria's president Al-Assad 

Several offensive have been launched by the Turkish and Syrian forces recently to reclaim lost regions. Two weeks ago, in the Afrin region, a neighbouring part of syria, an offensive commenced against Kurdish fighters controlling the region while in December, the syria together with Iranian backed militants, launched a massive offensive to reclaim the Idlib province with support from Russian airstrikes.
