Tottenham Hotspurs manager Mauricio Pochettino has praised his young English midfielder Dele Alli for the way he handled the incident with Manchester United's Ashley Young last weekend.

Young and Alli got involved in a head to head scuffle after the United midfielder whispered something into his ears.

Reports later emerged that Young taunted Alli over his failure to win the premier league so far.

With regards to the incident, Pochettino stated that his player handled the sitution well and further praised him for his winning mentality.

‘He is a winner and if people want to wind him up that's normal,' said Pochettino.

‘I think the behaviour was good. It's normal to argue with opponents. In the second half he was relaxed and only focused on the game.

‘For me all my players are special and top class. He has that ability to create that thing. For me he's a special player and can be better, he can improve, but he needs time.

‘It's only a short time he's been in this environment. He can improve not only for successful things but on his mistakes. He can become one of the best players in the world.'
