Everton Football Club have confirmed the sacking of manager Ronald Koeman after overseeing his side's 5-2 loss at home to Arsenal.
Koeman who signed a lucrative contract valued at £6 million yearly in June 2016 still had 18 months left on his contract and is expected to receive a hefty payoff.
A club statement read: "Everton can confirm that Ronald Koeman has left the club. Bill Kenwright, the board of directors and Farhad Moshiri would all like to express their gratitude to Ronald for the service he has given over the past 16 months and for guiding the club to seventh place in last season's Premier League campaign."
The latest league defeat against Arsenal on Sunday was the Club's seventh loss in all competitions this season.
After guiding the club to seventh position last season and subsequently losing Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United for £90m, the Club subsequently gave the go ahead for Koeman to spend around £140 million in pre season. It's a shame he was unable to help the squad settle or find a decent replacement for their former forward.
