According to reports on British Media outlet "The Guardian", The Nigerian Police has confirmed that Four Britons have been kidnapped in the Delta State region of Southern Nigeria.

Andrew Aniamaka, a spokesman for Delta state police has disclosed that the authorities are currently doing their utmost best to ensure that the individuals are rescued from the kidnappers.

The Four people were captured by unknown gunmen on October 13th.

Kidnapping for ransom is common in parts of Nigeria, especially in the oil rich Niger Delta region that has continued to cry out for being victims of marginalisation in the country.

In the past few years, a number of foreigners have been kidnapped in the Niger Delta region, which holds most of the country's crude oil – Nigeria's economic mainstay.

"The abductors have not made any contact but we are doing our investigations to know the motive and have them rescued without jeopardising their lives," said Aniamaka.

"Information available to us shows they are missionaries giving free medical services," he said, adding that the British nationals had been working in a very rural area.
