The UEFA Champions league group stages continued on Tuesday night with the first round of matches and it was definitely exciting.

The star match of the night was between Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur at the Bernabeau. After conceding an early own goal from Raphael Varane, Madrid had to battle from behind to secure a point in a match that saw Harry Kane miss a crucial opportunity that could have tilted the 1-1 scoreline in his side's favour.

Manchester City hosted Napoli in a tie that was widely expected to be intense and interesting. Both teams had not lost the last 8 games leading up to the match but in the end, City did enough to steal all three points as the game ended 2-1.

The shock of the night was perhaps Dortmund's game away at APOEL Nicosia. The German outfit was widely expected to comfortably claim all three points from the game but could only secure a 1-1 draw. This result now means that with 7 points each, Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur are now the favourites to qualify from the group.
