Turkey calls on citizens in Northern Iraq to leave before flight ban on Friday

- Turkey calls on citizens in Northern Iraq to leave before flight ban on Friday.

- Tensions continue to mount between the Kurdish Regional Government and Baghdad.
In the wake of the ongoing conflicts between Iraq's government in Baghdad and it's semi-autonomous Kurdish Regional Government (KRG), Turkey has called on all its citizens currently in the Northern Iraq region to leave before flights are suspended on Friday.

Despite calls from both local and the international community, KRG went ahead to carry out an independence referrendum vote last week, leading to increased tensions between them and Baghdad.

As a result of the continuous call for secession from Iraq by the KRG, there are plans to impose sanctions on the region in a bid to make them back down from their current path towards independence.
