- Regardless of an agreement in place, Costa will only be able to join the Spanish side by January 2018.
The standoff between Chelsea Football Club and estranged striker Diego Costa may be finally over as the club has agrred terms to sell the forward to Athletico Madrid subject to the player passing a medical and agreeing to personal terms.
Athletico Madrid made the announcement and also confirmed that the player is due to have his medicals over the next few days.
Regardless of an agreement in place, Costa will only be able to join the Spanish side by January 2018.
Although Costa scored 58 goals in 120 appearances for the Blues, including 20 in the Premier League last season as Chelsea won the title, he has not featured for the Club this season.
