The Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has disclosed on Friday while addressing an armed forces parade in Tehran that it will strengthen its missile capabilities without seeking permission from any foreign body or country.

"We will increase our military power as a deterrent. We will strengthen our missile capabilities ... We will not seek permission from anyone to defend our country," Rouhani said in a speech broadcast on state television.

This statement from the Iranian government is likely to trigger further responses from the U.S. President Donald Trump who has been highly critical of the 2015 Iran nuclear deal.
