Man Utd defeat Everton 4-0 to share top spot with Man City

- United defeat Everton 4-0 at Old Trafford.

- Valencia, Mkhitaryan, Lukaku and Martial got on the scoresheet.

- United missing Pogba.
The build up to this match was mainly focussed on the the return of two players to their previous clubs where they were adored for their prolific goalscoring prowess.

Rooney was returning to Manchester United for the first time since he left the club last summer on a free transfer and Romelu Lukaku left Everton FC for a club record fee of nearly $100 million.

All of this however changed once the game started as Manchester United scored a brilliant goal through Antonio Valencia in the fourth minute.

United however struggled to maintain the same pace and control throughout the game and Everton used the initiative to step up their game.

The Merseyside club's main forward Rooney failed to convert two notable chances during the game and so did United's Lukaku.

The final ten minutes however saw United score three goals in quick succession rounding up a miserable night for Everton in what could have been a victory or draw for them on another night.

Lukaku, Mkhitaryan and Martial scored the remaining goals for the fixture.

THis was United's first match without Paul Pogba since he suffered a hamstring injury in the UEFA Champions League tie against Basel last Tuesday and although United got a good result, it was clear to see that they missed his creativity and midfield genius.
